Women are strong and independent. We are fighters that can make great things happen when we put our minds to it. However despite these inherent truths, many times it may feel like the world is crashing down on us, whether it be due to debilitating circumstances at work, or even some problems in our personal lives. When these sorts of unfortunate events arise in our lives, we need to make sure we don’t give up but rather persevere and work even harder to achieve our goals and our dreams. To help inspire you to never give up, here are some truly exceptional women that did precisely that and ended up on top in the end.
Carly Fiorina is a great place to start, particularly because she became prominent in the technology business sector, which is what many of our readers can relate to. Over the years, Fiorina was able to work hard and prove herself as a savvy and intelligent woman, resulting in her title as CEO of Hewlett-Packard. This is particularly impressive when you consider just how few women CEO there are compared to men. And while reflecting on Fiorina’s success as a CEO is great in its own right, it is just as great realizing that she isn’t the only woman CEO to have ever existed. Being just one of multiple female CEO’s just shows that if you continue to work hard, you can reach that mountaintop someday as well.
Another woman who made a name for herself in a male-dominated profession was Hillary Clinton. While many people first knew of Hillary for being the First Lady to President Bill Clinton, today she is known for being so much more than that. Despite the fact that President Bill Clinton was found to have cheated on her with a White House intern, Hillary didn’t let it get in her way of her aspirations. She became a successful Senator for New York, followed that becoming the Secretary of State under the Obama administration and she came this close to becoming the first female president of the United States. Although we all obviously wished she broke through that glass ceiling, the rest of her accomplishments definitely should not be overlooked, especially all as a woman in world of politics!
Lastly, a great athlete who inspires us in a unique way is Serena Williams. She has won countless Grand Slam titles, and was considered to be the top female athlete in the world for many years. But what really inspired us was the fact that she went on to have a beautiful baby girl (named Alexis Olympia), despite the potential repercussions it could have for her career. This is something that many young women may confront in their own careers, but just like Serena, anything is possible if you love what you do and know you will bounce back stronger than ever. That was readily apparent when she won yet another Grand Slam after having her daughter, something that was basically unheard of until it actually happened, making Serena a prime example of how even if you may want to get pregnant and start a family, it does not mean that you have to sacrifice your career in the process. If you are good at what you do, there is almost nothing that can stop you from succeeding at it.
